Feel that a couple of people want to ask some questions. What do you advise as to putting an email address up, should i create a new one for this purpose!
Please give me the pros and cons on this subject, and any other suggestions on this will be much appreciated, THANKS!!!
Can anyone out there give more information on the email link, is it my regular email , or is it a different one through yahoo?

Why is this in the dog section?
I wouldn’t do it, but that’s just me.

{Cue the vikings} Spam, spam, spam…
There is a link in your profile for people to e-mail you. It’s there for a reason – to keep your e-mail address private.

It depends. I have never received any bad emails. . .

The only reason to post your address is to allow other people to contact you, either for follow up questions/discussions, criticism, praise, etc.
The negatives are basically the risks of spam, phishing, and harassment. I generally don’t think the negatives are great enough to justify hiding from, but in this case people can contact you privately from your profile page without you having to give up your private address, so there’s no real gain to posting it publicly.

In addition to the site specific risk of people using your e-mail to harass you or send you false information, there’s the general risk of listing your e-mail anywhere on the internet. There are programs and people set up to troll the internet looking for e-mail addresses to spam.
Yahoo Answers provides a way for people to e-mail you with you posting your address and you can get responses directly on the site anyways. So why bother handing out your e-mail address to anyone and everyone who cares to look?

You don’t have to use your own email address. Yahoo provides a link for you to accept emails without showing what your email address is. You will want to have that protection, because there are some pretty vicious nuts on this site and you will be sworn at, threatened and all kinds of things for just voicing your opinion.
I have made a few great friends through this site, and those people have my real email address.
