What is a catchy name for a local newsletter?

Written by admin on August 1st, 2009

This is for a local Habitat for Humanity newsletter that is quarterly and will go to volunteers, donors and partners (churches/corporations). We have not done one for a few years and before, it was called “the Beacon.” I want something really catchy/clever and I’ve been really pulling ideas over the past few weeks and wanted to see what everyone else thought!

  1. Crissy Says:

    How about “The Hammer”

To symbolize something that is hard but is a good tool that gets the job done as well.

    other ideas are:

“Breaking Ground” (you know, ground breaking ceremony on new houses, but also is an expression for starting something new and making progress…I happen to like this one a lot!)

“Solid Ground” (starting over, putting one’s feet on solid ground, making a comeback)

“The Window” (as in, not only windows of a house but “window of opportunity”)…another version of this one might be “The Welcome Mat”, “The Backyard”, etc…

“Foundations” (this one speaks for itself but just incase i’ll explain anyway: 1 sense: foundation of a home, 2nd sense, habitat for humanity is a foundation, and 3, foundation in the emotional, philosophical sense. Everyone needs a strong foundation, right?….I happen to like this one a lot too.)

and last but not least before my brain turns into mush,

“The Manger” (Jesus’ first “home” or shelter in the barn with his parents, but there was born hope and salvation for all mankind.

Hope you like these, and if not, its ok, I just hope you find a nice name to suit your purposes. Have a great weekend and let me know what you decide. I’d love to know :)
