How many issues of a magazine or newsletter are in a volume?

I have started a newsletter which is labeled as Vol. 1 Issue 1. How many issues do I write before going to Vol. 2?

    Usually a volume is an entire year.

    One year of a magazine is considered one volume.
    Issue numbers are like chapters.

    For example, volume 7, issue 4 would be the seventh year of the magazine and the fourth volume of the year

    OK?

    As little as four and as many as 52

    depends, if you are being funny change it every issue(volume 2, then volume 34). but the first guy is right, usally its by year.
