“how much does a cooking class coordinator make?

Written by admin on January 8th, 2009

This would be in a retail store setting not a professional culinary institute. Classes are held weekly and have between 15 and 30 students who pay $35.00 to $45.00 per class. I coordinate the chefs, write the catalogue (15 to 20 classes, 3 times per year), all marketing, write weekly e-mail newsletter and upkeep website. Phew! How much should I be asking per hour. (Or should it be salaried?)

It depends. If its an on-going concern, it would be viable for you to request for monthly salary. If the classes are conducted based on minimum number of participants then you can consider asking for percentage based on numbers of participants or per class conducted basis. I would say 30% of total intake or S$60 per hour is reasonable. However, do bear in mind that if you opt for percentage or hourly paid, no work means no income versus monthly salary.
